Homework.

A couple of weeks ago I had to an infographic about any subject I like. As you could imagine, I did it about fashion, more specifically about the trends in F/W 2012 runways. When you mix homework and the things you like, it doesn't feel like homework at all. My grade was 30/40 [due to some failures in the headline, fuck it]- Also, way before that assignment, I had to do a movie poster entirely made in CorelDraw. I decided to make a little tribute to David Bowie and I made a Aladdin Sane-inspired movie poster. Ignore the weird nose-job and the pratically inexistant collar-bones, , hope you like it!

Hace unas semanas tuve que hacer un trabajo infográfico acerca de algún tema de mi predilección. Como pueden imaginar lo hice sobre moda, más específicamente sobre las tendencias en las pasarelas Otoño/ Invierno 2012. Cuando mezclas tu tarea con tus gustos, no se siente para nada como tarea. Mi nota fue de 40/40, espero que les guste. De igual manera, mucho antes de ésa asignación, tuve que crear un póster para una película completamente hecho con CorelDraw. Decidí rendirle un pequeño tributo a David Bowie e hice un póster inspirado en Aladdin Sane. Ignoren la mala rinoplastia y la clavícula casi inexistente.

Lacoste L!ve + Micah Lidberg

Hoy en día es común ver una gran cantidad de marcas millonarias hiper-conocidas lanzando spin-offs de sus colecciones para llegar hasta un público más joven y amplio en las que incluyen piezas económicamente más accesibles. ¿Ejemplos? Alexander Wang con T by Alexander Wang. Sarah Burton con McQ. Y también, Lacoste, la marca del cocodrilo, con Lacoste L!ve. Esporádicamente, L!ve lanza una colección capsula con artistas de todas partes del mundo para que intervengan en el proceso creativo de sus inconfundibles polos. En esta ocasión el match-up fue con el -increíblemente genial- ilustrador estadounidense Micah Lidberg, que ha trabajado para miles de publicaciones como New York Times Magazine, Cut Magazine y Nylon Magazine.

Nowadays it's very common to see a large amount of million-worth hyper-known brands launching collections to catch the attention of bigger and younger public. Examples? Alexander Wang with T by Alexander Wang. Sarah Burton with McQ. And also, Lacoste, remember the croc?, with Lacoste L!ve. Every now and then, L!ve launches a capsule collection with an artist to work on the creative process of their unforgettable polos. This time, the match-up was with the amazing illustrator Micah Lidberg, who's worked with publications such as the NY Times Mag, Cut Mag, and Nylon Mag.

TFI 2012.

El pasado jueves 26 de Abril tuve la oportunidad de asistir al showcase presentado por el colectivo de diseñadores de moda valencianos TFI [The Fashion Industry] en el que marcas como Candy & Roll, Ignacio Alen, Inés De Tovar, Franco Perna, Daniel Spig, y Container kr presentaron sus más recientes colecciones. Además tuve el gusto de compartir con Daniela Rodríguez, Pablo Constanzo, Anabel Borges y Ana Sofía Salinas ¡un gustazo verlos, chicos!

Mis colecciones favoritas:

Ignacio Alen: Puntada a puntada y costura por costura Ignacio ha comenzado a hilar los hilos de la clase, que se van armando en una pieza tan básica como es la camisa de vestir. Cuellos mao, detalles en el pecho, transparencias, volantes y una perfecta elección de colores y telares tanto para caballeros como para damas. Lo básico no tiene porque ser aburrido, con pequeños detalles se obtienen increíbles piezas.

Container kr: La creatividad no sólo estuvo en ropa; la noche se llenó de modernidad gracias a los accesorios de esta marca valenciana realizados con curiosos materiales como carretes de hilo, très bien!

Candy and Roll: Si hay algo que define a Candy and Roll es eclecticismo en cuanto a la búsqueda de inspiración se refiere. 

Su temporada pasada [Jardín Art Decó] tuvo estéticas más oscuras, alejándose de su acostumbrada explosión colorida. 

Esta vez retoman esta imagen con un mix-up inspirado en los 70's. Cortes geométricos y estructurales increíbles que se combinan con sensualidad y sencillez.

Poco a poco y gracias al esfuerzo de un selecto grupo de personas se denota la manera en la que se va forjando la gran industria de la moda, no sólo en Valencia, sino también en Venezuela.

#MusicMonday: Caras. Flashes. Clase. Fashion. Show.

Yo tengo algo, una atracción magnética, una pequeña adicción por las girl rock bands, ¿hay algo más sexy que una chica tocando la guitarra mientras usa tacones y medias rotas? Uhm, nope. Hace unas semanas tuve la oportunidad de participar sin ser invitado oficialmente, con las chicas Blush Magenta durante el photoshoot para el art-book de su primer disco: Caras. Flashes. Clase. Fashion. Show. [el nombre del disco es un trabalenguas, ¡pero me encanta!] ¿Las imágenes? Perfectamente atrevidas. ¿La protagonista? Satanás a.k.a María Alexandra. ¿El disco? Excelentemente producido. ¿Las canciones? Muy buen rock.

I have a thing, a magnetic attraction, a little adiction for girl rock bands, I mean, is there anything sexier than a girl playing the guitar wearing high heels and ripped-off tights? Uhm, nope. A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to participate not being officialy invited, with the girls from Blush Magenta [read it backwards if you're an english-speaker, tah-dah!] during the photoshoot for the art-book for their first album Caras. Flashes. Clase. Fashion. Show [you can get tongue-tied just by trying to pronounce it, but let's face it, the name's really nice] The imagery? Perfectly suggestive. The girl from the cover? Satanás a.k.a María Alexandra. The disc? Really well produced. The songs? Really good rock right there.

Diet Coke + Jean Paul Gaultier

No es la primera vez, y les aseguro que tampoco la última, que la gente de Diet Coke se une con algún diseñador para darle un mix-up a sus explotables botellas en ediciones limitadas, anteriormente hemos visto los trabajos con Karl Lagerfeld y Manolo Blahnik. En esta ocasión le tocó al famoso enfant terrible de la moda, Jean Paul Gaultier. Las botellas tienen 3 diseños: "Day", con figura de hombre y vestido con el reconocido sweater navy de líneas azules. "Night", una versión femenina mucho más atrevida y con un corsé de fishnets y encaje negro, muy hookerish; y otra versión más sensual llena de tatuajes y accesorios. Además, para publicitar el producto Gaultier grabó una serie de videos en los que transforma a las tres marionetas protagonistas de la marca: Irene, Bernadette y Eleanor.... hey, do you intend to press charges?

It's not the first time, and I assure you it's not the last one, that the people from Diet Coke team-up with a high fashion designer to give a little mix-up to their exploitable bottles in limited editions, back in time we've seen collaborations with icons such as Karl Lagerfeld and Manolo Blahnik. This time, the leading was took by the famous fashion's enfant terrible, Jean Paul Gaultier. The bottles have 3 different designs: "Day", with a manly figure and dressed up with the unforgettable navy sweater that has become a statement in Gaultier's imagery. "Night", the femenine hookerish version pulling off a corset made of fishnets and black lace; and the last version wich is a more sensual one with tattoes and lots of necklaces. To add a bit more of publicity to the product, Jean Paul has filmed a series of funny clips where he transform the brand's dummies called Irene, Bernadette and Eleanor... hey, do yo intend to press charges?

It's getting boring by the sea.

Normalmente no posteo nada sobre mi styling, la verdad, no me gusta tomarme fotografías, pero de una u otra manera, debo hacerlo más seguido, a veces es divertido salirse de lo que hacemos siempre para no tornarnos seres repetitivos. Últimamente mis proyectos individuales y mis obligaciones estudiantiles me han alejado del blog. fuck. Pero acá estoy de nuevo, pronto se vienen mis favoritos del RTW F/W 2012-2013 y la part-deux de Menswear F/W 2012-2013. Stay tuned!

I normally don't post anything about my styling, actually I don't like taking pictures of myself, but one way or another, I should do it more often, sometimes it's fun getting out of the box. Lately I've been pretty busy between my own projects and my student obligations. fuck, that's why I hadn't posted anything for almost a month. But here I am again, soon I'll be posting my favorites out of the RTW F/W 2012-2013 runways and the part-deux of Menswear F/W 2012-2013, so, stay tuned!
